Special Services Available
 

Practice Nurses

 

Our nurses are available each weekday morning and evening.  They will change dressings, remove sutures, syringe ears and give advice on diet and giving up smoking.  They are also available some afternoons  for cervical smear tests, family planning checks, health checks and injections.

Health Care Assistants

Health Care Assistants are able to take blood samples, blood pressure readings, give advice on diet, simple wound dressing, ECGs at the request of the Doctor and generally help the Practice Nurses and Doctors in patient care.

The Macmillan Nursing Service

They work closely with the practice and have special experience in caring for those with cancer and terminal diseases.

Health Visitor

The health visitor is a registered nurse and midwife who has undertaken further training in child development and health promotion.  She can offer advice and support on health related matters to all age groups.  Health visitors work closely with other agencies including housing, education and social services. 

Her clinic is held on the 1st and 3rd Thursday afternoons in the month.

Community Midwife

The midwife holds weekly antenatal clinics on Tuesdays in the surgery.  She will often arrange to visit expectant mothers at home as well as providing care for mothers and babies in the postnatal period.

Community Nurse

The district nurse has a wide range of responsibilities and experience in providing general nursing care in the community. Her direct telephone number is 01726 843778.

Clinical Psychologists and Counsellors

The clinical psychologist and counsellors see patients at the surgery on referral by the doctor.
